Workers’ Compensation Defense
Cousineau, McGuire is a longstanding insurance defense firm in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with a Northern Wisconsin/Michigan office in Ironwood, Michigan. Currently, the firm consists of 37 attorneys, with 15 practicing almost exclusively in the area of workers’ compensation defense with years of experience handling workers’ compensation claims at the Department of Labor & Industry, Office of Administrative Hearings, before the Workers’ Compensation Court of Appeals, and the Minnesota Supreme Court.
The firm is committed to meeting its clients’ needs by cost effectively providing focused and result-oriented legal services. Many of the firm’s lawyers have been recognized by their peers and judges for their exceptional legal abilities, with several of the lawyers having been named as Minnesota “Super Lawyers” and as “Best Lawyers in America.” One of the lawyers has recently been elected to be a Fellow, College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers, of the American Bar Association. Several of the lawyers are Adjunct Professors of Law with many also being regular contributors to Continuing Legal Education seminars speaking on a variety of topics with regard to Minnesota Workers’ Compensation Law. In addition, the firm’s workers’ compensation attorneys regularly present seminars for our clients on topics such as case law updates and periodic legislative changes in the workers’ compensation laws.
Cousineau, McGuire has been a participating member of the Minnesota Self-Insurers Association (MSIA) and is also currently a member of The National Workers’ Compensation Defense Network (NWCDN), a nationwide and Canadian network of independent law firms created to provide an organization where reputable law firms can form a network to provide employers and insurers access to quality representation in workers’ compensation and related employer liability fields. All of the firm’s workers’ compensation attorneys are also members of the Minnesota Defense Lawyers Association, dedicated to serving the needs of lawyers engaging in the defense and trial of civil and workers’ compensation matters.
